Dang it! ,Picked up a viral infection.

I woke with a sore throat 2 days after my infusion. Not wanting to take any chances, I called my oncologist. I got a prescription for Levofloxacin, a 10 day supply of antibiotics. Bad side effects include irritated or torn tendons. After 3 days of the meds, I feel like I have been beaten with a 2×4. I will keep with the meds for a few more days, and will call oncologist tomorrow. The side effects are increased if over 60 (check), and persons taking steroids (check again). Another thing I gave noticed. My sense of smell remains but taste us almost gone. Sweet is about the only thing I can sense as a taste. Water even has no taste. Oh well, hope this has not set back my scheduled treatments. Blood test a week from tomorrow, and infusion on 1-17.

So Sorry. There is bad stuff going around.
Hi Bill, I'm Bill, I think I may have been the poster child for infections. Your docs are your guides, but brother, if you get one tiny degree of fever get on the phone with a doctor or just head to the ER at your hospital of choice. IV Antibiotics are the treatment and the sooner they get them in you the sooner you will be fixed. I'm just speaking of an actual fever. I had a couple bouts with staph infections that got in at my port and the next time past my PICC line. So, that's just my advice. Get your doc's opinion, but I bet he agrees.
Best wishes for no interruption on the 17th! Bill
Hi Bill, I hope you are good by now. Maybe you might need to have Neupogen shots just to boost your WBC producing. I had to have the shots for all my 5 infusions. My blood count was fine after this and I did not have any infections. Good luck!
